We thank Cleveland High School (Leadership Class) in Portland, OR for awarding us with a grant that will help more ladies attend Her Journey for no charge. Although other high schools chose important causes, such as mental health and homelessness, Cleveland was the only one to choose domestic violence as their focus for this important grant. The team feels that there is an under-representation of those affected by DV/Domestic Violence and would like to change that.
The Communicare Program facilitated the grant. It was established in 1997 by Harold and Arlene Schnitzer. Over it’s twenty two years, students have granted over $1,250,000. to support their schools and communities.
This grant will literally effect (and potentially) hundreds of lives as these new leaders will go forth and hold many Her Journey groups. We can’t wait to hear the stories of healing.
Some partners in the DV field also received grants: Clackamas Women’s Services, Impact NW and Raphael House of Portland.
Thank you future leaders!
