I knew if you were strangled long enough you'd die. I didn't realize how quickly and how much damage to the brain it costs. I look forward to learning more and being wiser and aware of the possibilty in my classes. Good to know that I will know what to say and how to help any woman in my classes. -Claudia This course had a lot of information and knowledge. So glad that strangulation is now being identified as one of the most lethal forms of domestic violence. To be able to understand the difference between choking and strangulation. Strangulation is an ultimate form of power and control over a victim's next breath. It can have a devastating psychological effect or a potentially fatal outcome. This is a course to put in our toolbox and be able to identify and understand. Thank you. -Sonja T This was incredibly informative. I wasn't sure how an entire course could be written on this one criminal subject, but you have done it - and it was interesting and educational...Thank you for bringing up strangulation during intimacy - I have heard of it but wouldn't have known what to say before reading this information. I also appreciated the section regarding a victim's retelling of the incident - that they may have memory loss, appear confused, etc. Friends have also reported their own memory loss to me, and had been shamed for it. I can now offer them reassurance that this is normal. Thank you for handling such a violent and criminal subject so thoroughly. We will all benefit from this training. -RuthanneHer Journey Leader Recertification Classes

"I was very pleased with the course material. There is a lot that I learned about stalking that I had not considered as being a form of stalking. I considered most or all of the six stages as abuse or boundary issues, but didn’t consider them as stalking...It was an eye opener about the media and subtle messages about stalking. They will better prepare me for what to look for and recognize... All-in-all it was a great learning experience and I feel it will benefit me a lot as a leader in the industry." -L.D.
"Helpful class to give a vocabulary to stalking behaviors and to know what victims of stalking can do to protect themselves...Would have been helpful six months ago when I was walking with a client through this. Thanks for the class-it was awesome!" -S.H.
"Although I have really appreciated every recertification class I have taken, this has been the most appreciated because I was ignorant of so many of the resources that were highlighted throughout the training. When I read the different articles about grey rocking, I was reminded that God led me to respond to my ex-husband with grey rocking although at the time I didn’t know grey rocking existed. It took 5 years for me to perfect grey rocking and it was worth every stumbly bumbly effort." -K.S
"This particular class was very infomative for me. I learned alot. I especially liked all the practical downloads and sites that provided information that i can now use to help others." -M.T.
"What a great course! Everything is helpful; the section on what victims can do with the links, Stalking Incident and Behavior Log, and all the great links are very empowering. I will keep hard copies of everything available with me, in my class, to refer to for any students who may need this information in the future. Thank you for putting this together." - S.C

Every year I think this is the best course yet and it is the same this year. The subject matter is so relevant in our culture as well as the ARMS groups. In addition to the mental health definitions, I really liked the sections that spoke to how the leader can best support people who might have these mental health issues. I appreciated being able to access and review the supporting ARMS documents with just a click. I also liked seeing, hearing and reading the information to implant it deeper into my understanding. Thank you so much for putting these amazing trainings together for us. They are well worth the continuing education fee. -KO The course was excellent! This course was very informative to me. I have heard a lot of the mental health terms before, but did not know the true definitions and traits of them. I appreciated the YouTube video not only addressing the disorders, but also informing us how to respond in our groups to individuals who are displaying any of them. -Sonya

For your professional knowledge or for ARMS Leader Recertification.I naively thought I didn't really need this course because I wasn't "there". It opened my eyes a bit and helped me take a good look at myself and how I was doing, my temperature, if you will. As I read about the symptoms for Compassion Fatigue and burnout, I was identifying with some of them. I discovered I had a few in the yellow zone and it is important to address them now.-Joann
The lesson conveyed its information in a concise and understandable manner. It served as a valuable reminder to prioritize self-care and emphasized the significance of identifying the signs of compassion fatigue before it progresses to burnout. I particularly appreciate the inclusion of the Daily Practice Wheel, which I have printed and will incorporate into my planner. Thank you for providing clear and unambiguous material that left no room for confusion. -Bridgit
Within the day job, the mode of “do better be better” is so hard. I can separate the job from the ministry due to the curriculum in Her Journey Training. I leave my emotions and issue outside the door when leading a class. This also is really helpful because it allows me to work on myself so I can continue to help others. -Bernetta
I have learned much in this lesson about self-care. I am planning on instituting some of these ideas into my daily life. -Cheryl L.
Learning the difference between compassion fatigue and burnout was a good foundation. As you learn more about a topic, you are able to notice the warning signs and to work on the steps it takes to bring rest. -Lori
I particularly gained insight from the zeroing in on specifics relating to how the differences between compassion fatigue and burnout might manifest in certain behaviors and thought patterns. It can be so easy to just push through fatigue out of a perceived "strong" mindset and not even see destructive patterns emerge. -S.L.
