I have been appreciating ALL of the material. This week I was glad for the review of the safety rules. Thanks... I was also blessed in thinking about the scriptural basis of possible divorce due to abuse. -Robin

I probably enjoyed this course more than any other I have taken.  It seemed to be the practical training for me as a group leader and something I will refer to in the future.  I think the corse was well balanced with reading and video, although the readings on divorce took a bit of time to get through. -Marilyn H.

What I especially like are the videos. Very informative and I usually listen to them a couple times. There is a lot of good practical and common-sense information from people who are very knowledgeable. I also appreciate the resource links to download, to have for reference or to share with the women in group. It is a great refresher even as long as I have been leading, I gleaned many nuggets from this. Things I had not used I can now feel confident using.   -Maureen

Online, flex hours, 3-5 hours of time over a two week period. For your professional knowledge or ARMS Leader Recertification.

This has been very eye-opening. The videos were extremely informative. They really helped me to get inside the mind of an HT victim and understand how they might see the world and behave. It will make me more observant of people and behaviour every time I travel. Here in the Riviera Maya, trafficking, prostitution and violence are rife. People come from all over the world to satisfy their desires. Next time I walk past the bars, spas and restaurants on Fifth Avenue, I will look at them with different eyes. -Sally

This course was powerful to me. I learned quite a bit of information that I had not known about human trafficking. -Liza

This class helped me connect some of those dots personally and is an excellent refresher as I lead my HJ group. Thank you!  -Georgia

I want to say thank you for the great training. I found myself going deeper because the way you had set it up, we could if we wanted to and had the time. All the information was good. -Yvonne

This was a good course…My eyes were opened more to Labor Trafficking now that I have completed the course.  I have worked with human trafficking victims over time but was less familiar with labor trafficking.  I will know more signs to look for now regarding that. -Tammy

ABOUT THE CLASS: Compassion Fatigue and Burnout are two separate issues, but one does lead to another when not taken care of. I naively thought I didn't really need this course because I wasn't "there".  It opened my eyes a bit and helped me take a good look at myself and how I was doing, my temperature, if you will.  As I read about the symptoms for Compassion Fatigue and burnout, I was identifying with some of them. I discovered I had a few in the yellow zone and it is important to address them now.-Joann

The lesson conveyed its information in a concise and understandable manner. It served as a valuable reminder to prioritize self-care and emphasized the significance of identifying the signs of compassion fatigue before it progresses to burnout. I particularly appreciate the inclusion of the Daily Practice Wheel, which I have printed and will incorporate into my planner. Thank you for providing clear and unambiguous material that left no room for confusion. -Bridgit

Within the day job, the mode of “do better be better” is so hard. I can separate the job from the ministry due to the curriculum in Her Journey Training. I leave my emotions and issue outside the door when leading a class. This also is really helpful because it allows me to work on myself so I can continue to help others. -Bernetta

I have learned much in this lesson about self-care. I am planning on instituting some of these ideas into my daily life. -Cheryl L.

Learning the difference between compassion fatigue and burnout was a good foundation. As you learn more about a topic, you are able to notice the warning signs and to work on the steps it takes to bring rest. -Lori

I particularly gained insight from the zeroing in on specifics relating to how the differences between compassion fatigue and burnout might manifest in certain behaviors and thought patterns. It can be so easy to just push through fatigue out of a perceived "strong" mindset and not even see destructive patterns emerge.  -S.L.
