Recently our Kenya team completed the very long process to become an official NGO in Africa! The definition of an NGO is: “…a private voluntary grouping of individuals or associations, not operated for profit or for other commercial purposes but which have organized themselves nationally or internationally for the benefit of the public.”* (So in other words, it is a an official non profit now, able to raise funds and hold the free Her Journey groups)

Our team discovered that until you are an official NGO there, they really do not give you space to meet and hold meetings and so two years ago, they started the process to become official. They have a Board of Directors, are working on one team member getting work permit and are starting to accept donations to get an office going.

The need in Kenya (and in other areas of Africa) is HUGE for abuse recovery. We also get ladies from Nairobi and Nigeria who contact us about groups. Domestic abuse is common and in many places, accepted as a “normal” relationship.

But we all know better. And we want to provide healing, hope and transformation in Africa and beyond.

You can like/follow the new Kenya Facebook page here.

If you feel so led, please consider donating a few dollars. American dollars go a long way there. I just donated $50 from my personal account to get the ball rolling on the money that they need to get groups going, help heal the ladies and to raise up and train new leaders to open up even more groups. We want to increase the reach of true healing for these women and girls who have been subjected to so much abuse.

You can donate on our page here, and choose “International Support” on the dropdown, or you can Paypal it to our Arms Account at stacey (at) abuserecovery.org

Thank you and the women of Africa thank you too!
